PSE&G is prepared for the forecasted weather that could bring thunderstorms and strong winds to our area through tomorrow. Wind gusts of 40 mph or higher are likely.
We’ve worked to maintain safe, reliable service throughout the pandemic while also preparing for the season’s severe weather. In anticipation of extreme weather, we closely monitor weather conditions and take steps to ensure that we can respond to any resulting power outages as safely and quickly as possible. Additional operational actions taken related to the pandemic include:
- Continuing to work with government and emergency management officials, following the guidance provided by federal, state and local agencies regarding social distancing and personal protective equipment. Employees have the necessary personal protective equipment and follow training and protocols to ensure that we and our customers remain safe and healthy.
- Moving critical equipment into strategic positions around our service territories, adjusting our field crews’ schedules and work locations to ensure we have the personnel in place to respond to storm damage.
- Supporting hospitals and other critical facilities by providing additional service as they expand to serve more patients and by proactively inspecting infrastructure to help eliminate potential power interruptions.
Please be cautious, stay alert to your surroundings during and after storms, and prepare for storms now. We also ask you not to approach our crews while they are working. For everyone’s safety, our crews are practicing social distancing -- staying at least six feet away from others. As always, we appreciate your patience and cooperation.
What you can do now to be prepared:
- Learn how you can stay connected in the table below.
- Charge your phones, tablets, power backups and other mobile devices.
- If your mobile service provides a “hotspot” for areas without internet access, learn how to use it.
- Review our storm preparation tips.
Important safety notes:
- Stay away from downed wires. Downed wires should always be considered live. Stay at least 30 feet away from downed power lines and immediately call PSE&G at 1‑800‑436‑PSEG (7734) or 911 to report downed wires.
- To prevent carbon monoxide poisoning, do not run any gasoline-powered generators in a garage or other enclosed space.
- If you (or a member of your household) rely on electricity to operate life-sustaining equipment, please notify PSE&G. To learn more, visit pseg.com/life or call 1‑800‑436‑PSEG (7734).
